Orangeries

Nothing makes you think of lovely old English houses, beautiful lawns and tea in the afternoon more than an orangery. A mix of a conservatory and an extension, these traditional brick-built structures with large windows and a raised glass roof or lantern flood the interior with natural light all year round.

Fabulous designs or bespoke

To help you choose an orangery which complements the style of your home, we have a choice of various uPVC orangery roof types including the Edwardian, the Lantern and the Sky-pod designs. Or we can produce something more bespoke. You can even have a flat glass unit within the roof space.

Energy efficient and extremely secure

Every one of the orangeries we build comes with multi-point locking systems to give you maximum security at all times. We also use high-quality double-glazed or triple-glazed A-rated units throughout, so your orangery will never be too hot during the summer months or too cold in winter.

Orangery or conservatory - what’s the difference?

Classic orangery with glass lantern used as a dining room

Classic orangery

It’s basically down to the amount of glass in the structure of each one. A conservatory is a fully-glazed structure that has over 75% of the roof glazed and over 50% of its walls glazed. Whereas an orangery has less than 75% of its roof glazed and less than 50% of its walls glazed. Although you can add a large glass lantern, as in this example.

Typical conservatory

As they are closer to a traditional extension than conservatories are, orangeries tend to add more value to your home than a conservatory. However, because they have more glass, conservatories can let in much more natural light than orangeries. This also means that they give you a better view of your garden. So, the choice is yours.
